St. Mary's College was crowned the Atlantic East champion for the second year in a row while junior
Kelsie Miller (Rockville, Md./Winston Churchill) earned the Atlantic East Women's Swimmer of the Year award for the third consecutive year.
Additionally, 10th-year Head Coach
Casey Brandt and his coaching staff (
Carolyn Sutton '20, Alex Marley, Sam Meisel '25, and Jair Jackson '26) were voted the Atlantic East Women's Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year for the fourth time since joining the conference in 2020-21. The Seahawks have previously garnered the honor in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
SMCM claimed the top spot with 775 points while Marymount (Va.) University finished second with 748. Marywood University took third with 591 followed by Immaculata University in fourth with 413. Rounding out the top six were Cedar Crest College (249) and Gallaudet University (189).
St. Mary's College hosted the Atlantic East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Aquatics Center in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center for the sixth year in a row.
100 Freestyle
A Seahawk swimmer has captured the 100-freestyle crown every year since SMCM joined the league.
Anna Kidd '24 finished her career as the four-time 100-freestyle champion while senior
Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) defended her title with a 52.87.
Sophomore
Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) placed third in 55.42 while sophomore
Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) came in fourth in 55.73. First-year
Carolina Saravia (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) completed the podium with an eighth-place finish in 1:01.82.
200 Butterfly
Miller picked up her third consecutive 200-butterfly crown as she touched the wall in 2:09.95 for first place. Sophomore
Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) posted a fourth-place finish in 2:23.99 while junior
Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) took seventh in 2:35.67.
First-year
Lily Quill (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) won the consolation final in 2:46.85 for ninth overall.
400 Freestyle Relay
The weekend culminated with the 400-freestyle relay in which St. Mary's College notched the top spot for the third consecutive year. Young, Willey, Cartwright, and Miller came together to swim a new conference and meet record of 3:35.41, breaking the Seahawks' own conference and meet mark of 3:37.53 from Feb. 16, 2025.
1650 Freestyle
Senior captain
Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) led SMCM in the 1650-freestyle with a third-place finish in 19:10.43 while sophomore
Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) went sixth in 20:03.04. Sophomore
Elly Bauer (Frederick, Md./Johnson) earned a podium spot with an eighth-place finish in 22:15.31.
200 Backstroke
First-year
Liv Macaluso (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) reached the podium with a seventh-place finish in 2:23.51.
Sophomore
Isa Bianco (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) took the top spot in the consolation final in 2:28.71 for ninth overall while Bauer finished 10th in 2:36.66.
200 Breaststroke
Sophomore
Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan) posted a seventh-place finish in the 200-breaststroke in 2:47.67 while senior captain
Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) came in eighth in 2:53.98.
Junior
Kaarli Lutz (Fort Washington, Md./Bishop McNamara) took second in the consolation final in 3:29.86 for 10th overall.
Inside the Meet
Eight (8) of the 15 St. Mary's College swimmers who competed today either in the preliminaries and/or the finals went lifetime bests. Additionally, 13 Seahawks reached the podium 14 times, including finishing championship competition with three gold medals and two bronze ones.
