Miller Swims B Cut as SMCM Women’s Swimming Takes Lead at Atlantic East Championships

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Junior Kelsie Miller (Rockville, Md./Winston Churchill) posted an NCAA B-cut in the 100-butterfly Saturday (Feb. 14) on the third night of the 2026 Atlantic East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Aquatics Center in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center.
 
100 Butterfly
Miller began her day with a B-cut as well as conference, meet, and school record in the preliminaries of the 100-butterfly, swimming a 54.66 to claim the top seed in the finals. She broke own conference, meet, and school record of 54.95 from Feb. 17, 2024.
 
She then posted a 54.94 in the evening for first place while first-year Liv Macaluso (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) placed eighth in 1:03.83.
 
Sophomore Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan) captured the consolation final in 1:05.15 for ninth overall while junior Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) placed 10th in 1:06.49.
 
400 Individual Medley
Senior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) led the Seahawks in the 400-inidivudal medley with a second-place finish in 4:52.15 followed by sophomore Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) in third in 5:00.95. First-year Lily Quill (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) took sixth in 5:27.86 followed by sophomore Elly Bauer (Frederick, Md./Johnson) in seventh in 5:43.14.
 
200 Freestyle
SMCM was led in the 200-freestyle by sophomore Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone), who garnered a second-place finish in 2:00.97. Sophomore Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) placed third in 2:03.00 while sophomore Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) went eighth in 2:09.07.
 
First-year Carolina Saravia (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) notched a 12th-place finish in 2:20.98.
 
100 Backstroke
Senior Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) picked up a second-place finish in the 100-backstroke in 1:00.08 while Macaluso added an eighth place in 1:05.90.
 
Sophomore Isa Bianco (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) captured another consolation final as Bianco went 1:06.36 for ninth overall while Soldon collected an 11th-place finish in 1:09.00.
 
100 Breaststroke
Malzahn paced St. Mary's College in the 100-breaststroke with a sixth-place finish in 1:16.50 while senior captain Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) finished seventh in 1:19.43.
 
Junior Kaarli Lutz (Fort Washington, Md./Bishop McNamara) came in second in the consolation final in 1:37.20 for 10th overall.
 
400 Medley Relay
The 400-medley relay came down to the wire as Marymount (Va.) University's Lillian Crawley out touched Cartwright for the win. Marymount finished in 4:02.32 for top honors while the foursome of Macaluso, Judge, Miller, and Cartwright took second in 4:02.43.
 
Inside the Meet
Ten (10) of the 16 St. Mary's College swimmers who competed today either in the preliminaries and/or the finals went lifetime bests. Additionally, 12 Seahawks reached the podium 13 times, including finishing the third night of championship competition with one gold medal and four silver.
 
SMCM, the defending conference champion, finally overtook Marywood University for the top spot as the Seahawks increased their point total to 519. Marymount (Va.) University isn't far behind with 513 points for second. Marywood dropped to third with 421 points while Immaculata remained in fourth with 269 points. Rounding out the top six are Cedar Crest College (176) and Gallaudet University (139).
