Seahawks Men’s Indoor Track & Field Competes at CNU Holiday Open

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's indoor track & field team began the 2025-26 campaign Saturday (Dec. 6) at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open.
 
How It Happened
  • Sophomore Ty Tindal (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Saints Classical) captured the 200m dash in 23.13.
  • Senior Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) won the pole vault with a height of 4.45m, matching his own school record.
  • Junior Jake Robey (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Prep) finished second in the 600m run with a school record of 1:28.66, breaking his own mark of 1:31.19 from Jan. 26, 2024. First-year Brandon Smoot (Hanover, Md./DeMatha) came in fourth in 1:28.99 followed by sophomore Moses McRae (Philadelphia, Pa./Kent Hills (Maine)) in fifth in 1:29.10.
  • Tindal took second in the preliminaries of the 60m dash in 7.00 but did not run in the finals.
  • First-year Andre Warren (Baltimore Polytechnic) finished third in the finals of the 60m hurdles in 8.82 after winning the preliminaries with a school record of 8.64, breaking the previous mark of 8.69 set by Tindal on Feb. 26, 2024 at the 2024 United East Championships.
  • First-year Solomon David (Stephen Decatur) went third in the high jump with a height of 1.77m, equaling the school record set by Tindal on Feb. 26, 2024 at the conference championships.
  • Sophomore Jack Kuta (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) placed fifth in the 5000m run in 18:56.74.
  • Smoot collected a sixth-place finish in the 3000m in 9:52.80.
  • The foursome of senior Nicholas Haylock (Odenton, Md./Meade), McRae, Warren, and David claimed sixth place in the 4x400m relay in 3:40.34.
  • Haylock notched an eighth-place finish in the finals of the 60m hurdles in 9.26 after finishing fourth in the preliminaries in 8.86.
  • David picked up an 11th-place finish in the long jump with 6.12m.
  • Junior Mason Layne (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) placed 13th in the 400m dash in 53.27.
  • First-year Jax Hansen (Lothian, Md./Southern) led the team in the 1-mile run, coming in 14th in 6:11.77.
  • Sophomore Jonathan Howell (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) came in 16th in the 800m run in 2:20.48 while senior Doel Nkalo (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mills) was 16th in the weight throw with 10.99m.
  • First-year Albert Morris (Western Tech) took 18th in the shot put with 9.46m.
