Men's Tennis Opens 2025 Spring Campaign at York

Box Score York, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team travelled to York, Pa. to battle against York College of Pennsylvania.  The Seahawks would fall to the Spartans 5-2.
 
How It Happened:
Doubles
  • Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 1 doubles match for the Seahawks. Rohr and Nelson dropped against the Spartans 6-3.
  • Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) and Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) defeated the Spartans 6-4 in the No. 2 spot.
  • The Seahawks No.3 double tandem featured Hudson Christensen (Annapolis, Md./ St. Mary's) and Joey Carson (Sykesville, Md./ Century). Christensen and Carson fell in their match, 6-1.
Singles 
  • Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) won in three sets in the No. 1 singles match.  Winning the first set 6-3, falling in the second 6-2, then decisively winning in the third 6-0.
  • Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 2 match, winning in close action.  Nelson dropped the first set 6-3, then came back to win the next two sets 6-0 and 6-4 respectively.
  • Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) competed in the No. 3 spot, dropping both sets 6-4, 6-0.
  • Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) fell in two sets in the No. 4 matchup, dropping both sets 6-2, 6-4.
  • Devon Gorel (Jessup, Md./ Hammond) lost both sets in close action in the No. 5 match. Gorel fell 6-4 in the first set-- then dropped the second set in a close battle, with the Spartans winning by two points for a score of 7-5.
  • Hudson Christensen (Annapolis, Md./ St. Mary's) concluded the singles matches for the Seahawks in the No. 6 spot. Christensen dropped two sets, losing 6-0, 6-2.
