Box Score Arlington, Va. – St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team travelled to Arlington, Va. to take on Marymount University (VA). The Seahawks defeated the Saints 5-2. This leads the men's tennis team to a 1-1 record for the 2025 Spring season.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 1 doubles match for the Seahawks. Rohr and Nelson beat the Saints duo 6-1, finalizing the Doubles point in order of finish.
- Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) and Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) battled the Saints to a 7-6 win in the No. 2 spot after a tiebreak of 7-3.
- The Seahawks No.3 double tandem featured Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) and Hudson Christensen (Annapolis, Md./ St. Mary's). Lyman and Christensen won 6-2, winning the first Doubles match of the day.
Singles
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) fell in two sets in the No. 1 singles match, dropping both sets 6-2.
- Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) competed in the No. 2 match, winning in three sets. Esztergomi dropped the first set 6-3, then came back to win the next two sets 6-0 and 6-1 respectively.
- Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 3 spot, winning in three sets after a back and forth first set. Nelson fell in the first set 7-6, with the extra point going to the Saints after dropping the tiebreak 7-5. Nelson rallied back in the next two sets, winning both sets 6-0, 6-3.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) fell in two sets in the No. 4 matchup, dropping both sets 6-0, 6-2.
- Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) won both sets in action in the No. 5 match. Lyman defeated the Saints 6-4, 6-2.
- Devon Gorel (Jessup, Md./ Hammond) concluded the singles matches for the Seahawks in the No. 6 spot. Gorel beat the Saints in both sets 6-4.
