Box Score Hilton Head Island, S.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team is down at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to take part in the PTR Spring Tennis Fest at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort. The Seahawks matched up against Alfred University Saxons, concluding their day with a convincing 5-2 win.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) and Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton) competed in the No. 1 position for the Seahawks. Manspeaker and Harris fell to the Saxons duo in a close battle 7-6, after dropping the tiebreak 7-4 on the scorecard.
- Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) and Lily Spedden won their match 7-6 in the No. 2 doubles tandem after a back and forth tiebreak win of 7-5.
- Hayley Brewer (Silver Spring, Md./ Albert Einstein) and Melak Armstrong (Ashton, Md./ Academy of the Holy Cross) dropped their close match 7-5 win-by-two in the No. 3 spot.
Singles
- Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./ North Point) comfortably won the match in two sets in the No. 1 singles match, winning 6-0, 6-1.
- Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 2 spot, winning in two sets 6-1, 6-4.
- Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./ Richard Montgomery) fell in two sets in the No. 3 match. Levit was defeated 6-3, 7-5 win-by-two.
- Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton) in the No. 4 matchup came out on top. Harris won the first set 7-6 after a winning tiebreak of 7-5, then won the second set 6-3.
- Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) won in action in the No. 5 matchup, winning 6-3 in the first set. Lovejoy earned the second set 7-6 after winning the tiebreak 7-3.
- Zoe Wilson (Clarksburg, Md./ Academy of the Holy Cross) earned a win in the No. 6 position in two sets. Wilson beat the Saxons 6-4 in the first set, 6-2 in the second.
