Women's Tennis Secures Spot in United East Conference Championship Tournament

Box Score Langhorne, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team travelled to Langhorne, Pa. for a rescheduled United East conference matchup against Cairn University.  The Seahawks dominated play against the Highlanders with a 7-0 sweep. With the win, the Seahawks have secured a spot in the United East Women's Tennis Conference Championship Tournament with their 6-0 record in conference play.
 
How It Happened:
Doubles
  • Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./ North Point) and Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 1 position for the Seahawks. Solomon and Manspeaker controlled the play 6-2.
  •  Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton won their match 6-1 in the No. 2 doubles duo against the Highlanders.
  • Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) and Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) continued the doubles sweep in the No. 3 spot, winning 6-1.
Singles 
  • Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./ North Point) won the match in two sets in the No. 1 singles match, controlling the play 6-1 both sets.
  • Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 2 spot winning in two sets.  Manspeaker won the first set 6-2, and won the second set 3-0 after the Highlanders retired.
  • Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) won in two sets in the No. 3 match. Levit defeated the Highlanders 6-0, 6-1.
  • Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton) dominated in the No. 4 matchup. Harris won in two sets, 6-1, 6-0.
  • Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) came out on top in the No. 5 matchup, winning 6-0, 6-3.
  • Lily Spedden concluded the sweep in the No. 6 position in two sets.  Spedden defeated the Highlanders in two sets, 6-1, 6-0.
