Box Score Abington, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team travelled to Abington, Pa. to take on Penn State Abington for their third United East Conference match this season. The Seahawks defeated the Lions 4-3, moving the Seahawks to 2-1 in conference play.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 1 doubles match for the Seahawks. Rohr and Nelson fell 6-3 to the Lions.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) and Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) dropped in the No. 2 duo, losing 7-6 after losing the tiebreak 7-5, and lost the doubles point by order of finish.
- The Seahawks No.3 double tandem featured Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) and Hudson Christensen (Annapolis, Md./ St. Mary's). Esztergomi and Christensen won their match 6-1.
Singles
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) lost the match in two sets in the No. 1 singles match, falling 6-4, 6-3.
- Max Esztergomi (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) competed in the No. 2 match, defeating the Lions in two sets 6-3, 6-2.
- Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) competed in the No. 3 spot, winning in two sets against the Lions 6-2, 6-0.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) fell in two sets in the No. 4 matchup, losing 6-1, 6-4.
- Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) won in two close sets in action in the No. 5 match. Lyman won the first set 6-4. Lyman won the second set 7-6 after rallying back from a 2-5 deficit for force the tiebreak, then winning the tiebreak 8-6 win-by-two.
- Devon Gorel (Jessup, Md./ Hammond) won the men's Seahawks matchup in order of finish in the No. 6 spot. Gorel won the first set 6-3, then dropped the second set 6-2. Gorel rallied in the third set to win the night 6-2.
