NEW ORLEANS, La. – Juniors
Nicholas Haylock (Odenton, Md./Meade) and
Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) each picked up a U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association Outdoor Track & Field All-Mid-Atlantic Region award as announced by the organization May 21. Haylock and Kralec are both first-time All-Region honorees.
Haylock garnered his All-Mid-Atlantic Region honor in the 400m hurdles while Kralec notched his All-Mid-Atlantic Region award in the pole vault. The Top 5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors.
The St. Mary's College men's outdoor track & field program has now collected four All-Region awards as
Ethan Carpenter '22 (discus in 2022) and
Ty Tindal '27 (100m in 2024) also racked up regional recognition.
Haylock came in fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the 400m hurdles with his school record-setting time of 55.07 at this year's All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Championships hosted by Williams College (May 14-15). He finished 13th in the field of 25 after winning his heat.
In his first year as a Seahawk, Haylock collected four All-United East awards, capturing conference championship titles in the 400m hurdles (57.68) and the 110m hurdles (15.86) for First Team All-United East honors. His other two all-league awards came in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, which both finished second for Second Team awards.
Kralec finished fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the pole vault with his school record-setting height of 4.80m at the 2025 SMCM Seahawk Invitational on March 29, which qualified the 6-3 captain for the 2025 AARTFC Outdoor Championships. He did not place as he no heighted in his three attempts.
Kralec won the pole vault with a height of 4.45m at the United East Outdoor Championships for First Team All-United East honors while adding a Third Team award with third place in the javelin throw (46.68m). He is now a three-time All-United East awardee in outdoor track & field.
In its fifth season as a varsity sport, the Seahawks men's outdoor track & field team picked up a second-place finish at this year's conference championship meet with 226 points, a two-spot improvement from last year's fourth-place finish at the inaugural United East Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
