Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team began the 2025-26 season in Washington, D.C. Saturday afternoon (Sept. 13). St. Mary's College (0-1) took a pair of points in a 5-2 loss to The Catholic University of America (2-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Catholic swept all three doubles matches to claim a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
- Junior Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./La Plata) and sophomore Lily Spedden (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) gave the Cardinals a run for their money at No. 2 doubles, claiming three games before falling 6-3.
- Sophomore Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) and first-year Addyson Harden (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) also won three games before falling 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
SINGLES
- CUA went up 2-0 with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles before Ganjbaksh recorded her first career singles win, handing Ella Knox a 6-2, 6-4 loss at No. 1 singles.
- Catholic grew its lead to 5-1 before Zoë Wilson (Clarksburg, Md./Holy Cross) tallied the Seahawks' second point, posting a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Marcela Pena at No. 5 singles.
