Three Records Notched as St. Mary’s College Men’s Indoor Track & Field Competes at Finn Pincus Invite

SALEM, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's indoor track & field team had a weekend at the Finn Pincus Invite hosted by Roanoke College at the Cregger Center (Jan. 16-17). St. Mary's College registered three records, six personal records and five season-best marks over the two-day event.
 
Junior Collin Fitzgerald (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) set the program record in the 300m dash with 36.74 as this marked the first time a Seahawk has competed in the event.
 
Sophomore Pierson Hogue (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) broke the school record in the 1000m with 2:42.82, displacing the previous mark of 2:44.91 set by Michael Wade '25 at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3, 2024).
 
First-year Solomon David (Stephen Decatur) broke the high jump record as David posted 1.91m, adding 0.14m to the previous mark of 1.77m held by both David (Dec. 6, 2025) and Ty Tindal '27 (Feb. 26, 2024).
 
How It Happened
  • The Seahawks claimed five of the top 10 spots in the 5000m run with Hogue capturing the event in 16:54.03. First-year Brandon Smoot (Hanover, Md./DeMatha) came in second (17:21.74) followed by junior Noah Fisher (Union Bridge, Md./Key) in third (18:53.54) and sophomore Jack Kuta (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) in fourth (19:00.71). Additionally, sophomore Owen Swisdak (Sykesville, Md./Century) was seventh in 19:30.51.
  • Hogue went second in the 1000m run in 2:42.82 while Smoot was fourth with a personal record 2:46.21. Sophomore Blake Carberry (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) and first-year Cooper Breakey (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) also finished in the Top 10 in sixth (2:50.94) and ninth (3:06.83), respectively.
  • David finished third in the high jump with 1.91m.
  • Fitzgerald notched a fifth-place finish in the 200m dash in 23.29 while first-year Andre Warren (Baltimore Polytechnic) with 24.60 (29th) notched a personal record. Junior Aaron Morales (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) came away with a season-best 25.48 for 35th.
  • Junior Jake Robey (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Prep) tallied a fifth-place finish in the 800m run in 2:06.39.
  • Warren picked up a sixth-place finish in the 60m hurdles in 8.95. In the preliminaries, he clocked an 8.94 to qualify for the finals.
  • Fitzgerald added a sixth-place finish in the 300m (36.74) while junior Mason Layne (Taneytown, Md./Key) came in 10th in 38.23.
  • Senior Nicholas Haylock (Odenton, Md./Meade) earned seventh in the 400m dash in 54.07 while Layne took 10th in 54.76. Senior Jaedon Aso (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) registered a season-best 56.66 for 18th.
  • Breakey led SMCM in the 600m run with a 13th-place finish in 1:37.71.
  • Senior Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) jumped 11.87m for 15th in the triple jump.
  • Fisher collected a 16th-place finish in the 3000m run in 10:38.63 while Swisdak clocked a season-best 11:18.53 for 19th.
  • David added a 16th-place finish in the long jump with 6.07m.
  • First-year Albert Morris (Western Tech) landed 21st in the weight throw with 9.21m.
  • Morris also garnered a personal record in the shot put as Morris threw 10.28m for 22nd while senior Doel Nkalo (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mills) placed 24th with a season-best 9.51m.
  • Fitzgerald led the Seahawks in the 60m dash with a 7.35 for 25th while Aso with 7.46 (29th), David with 7.57 (37th) and first-year James Uebel (Stephen Decatur) with 7.65 (41st) all posted personal bests. Additionally, Layne posted a season-best 7.61 (39th).
  • First-year Austen Specht (Lutherville, Md./Towson) went 26th in the mile run in 6:00.13.
