LATHAM, N.Y. – Senior Savannah Owens (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and junior Jillian Zukley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's indoor track & field team claimed the United East Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards as released by the league office Tuesday morning (Feb. 10).
 
This is Owens' second straight win as well as her third career indoor track athlete of the week honor. For Zukley, this is her sixth career weekly indoor award.
 
For the fourth time this season and the second weekend in a row, Owens broke the 400m dash school record. This time, she clocked a personal record of 59.59 at the Scarlet Knights Open hosted by Rutgers University for 10th place, clipping her previous mark of 1:01.46 from the Patriot Games (Jan. 31).
 
Owens also led off the seventh-place 4x400m relay which posted a conference-best time of 4:21.59. She also went 29th in the 60m dash with a personal record of 8.18. Her performances in both the 400m and 60m dashes lead the United East while ranking eighth and 29th, respectively, in the Mid-Atlantic region.
 
Zukley broke the weight throw record for the second time this season as she threw a personal record of 15.31m (first in conference, sixth in Mid-Atlantic) for second place at the Scarlet Knights Open, adding 0.20m to her previous school record of 15.11m set at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open (Dec. 6). She also finished seventh in the shot put with 11.04m.
 
At the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College, Zukley placed 12th in the shot put with 10.95m. Zukley's effort in the weight throw now leads the conference and ranks sixth in the region.
 
St. Mary's College, the defending conference champion, will be back in action at the 2026 United East Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 27, at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md.
