ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming claimed two gold medals on the first night of the 2026 Atlantic East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday night (Feb. 12), which is being held at the Aquatics Center on the St. Mary's City campus.
St. Mary's College, the defending Atlantic East Champion, captured the 200-medley and 800-freestyle relays for a total of 80 points and second place in the first team standings.
Marywood University leads the pack with 138 points following their sweep of the 1-meter and 3-meter diving championships on Feb. 8. Marymount (Va.) University sits third with 68 points followed by Immaculata University in fourth with 60. Rounding out the six-team field are Cedar Crest College (56) and Gallaudet University (52).
The Seahawks posted a 1:47.73 to win the 200-medley relay behind the efforts of seniors
Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) and
Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), junior
Kelsie Miller (Rockville, Md./Winston Churchill), and sophomore
Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills). The foursome just missed breaking the school record of 1:47.17 from 2009 by 0.56 seconds.
Following a 20-minute break, SMCM wrapped up its second win of the night, clocking a 7:55.85 in the 800-freestyle relay to set a conference and meet record. The relay featured Young, sophomore
Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone), Judge, and Miller. Their efforts crushed the previous mark of 8:03.59 set by St. Mary's College (Miller, Judge,
Lilianna Bowman '24, and
Anna Kidd '24) on Feb. 15, 2024.
