Three Records Fall as SMCM Men’s Indoor Track & Field Competes at Scarlet Knights Open

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Three St. Mary's College of Maryland men's indoor track & field program records fell Friday (Feb. 6) at the Scarlet Knights Open hosted by Rutgers University at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory.
 
Junior Jake Robey (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Prep) broke the four-year old 800m run school record, clocking a personal record of 2:01.83 on the banked track at The Armory for 20th overall. Robey surpassed the previous mark of 2:02.99 set by Will Christophel '24 on Feb. 5, 2022 at the Frank Colden Invitational.
 
Senior Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) bypassed his own pole vault school record as Kralec added 0.08m for a record-breaking 4.53m to finish fifth. His previous record of 4.45m was set twice on Feb. 28, 2025, and again on Dec. 6, 2025.
 
Senior Nicholas Haylock (Odenton, Md./Meade), sophomores Moses McRae (Philadelphia, Pa./Kents Hill (Maine)) and Henry Wilcox (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills), and junior Collin Fitzgerald (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) tallied the school record in the 4x400m relay with a 3:33.34, shaving off 0.30 seconds from the previous record (3:33.64) set on Feb. 28, 2025 at the United East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. Their performance gained them an eighth-place finish.
 
How It Happened
  • First-year Solomon David (Stephen Decatur) placed sixth in the high jump with 1.90m while taking 13th in the triple jump with 13.65m. He also garnered a 22nd-place finish in the long jump with a personal record of 6.21m.
  • Fitzgerald notched a 14th-place finish in the 200m dash in 22.68 while placing 28th in the preliminaries of the 60m dash in 7.25.
  • Senior Jaedon Aso (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) picked up an 18th-place finish in the unseeded 60m dash in 7.47 while registering a personal record of 23.88 in the 200m dash.
  • Haylock came in 20th in the 60m hurdles in 9.13 while taking 34th in the 60m dash preliminaries in 7.32.
  • McRae went 23rd in the 400m dash in 52.59.
