ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team made it a memorable debut for Interim Head Coach
Eric Heisler '00 Sunday afternoon (Mar. 1). St. Mary's College (1-1) notched 5-2 victory over York College of Pennsylvania (1-4) for Heisler's first career win as the head women's tennis coach.
DOUBLES
- York earned its first point of the match by claiming victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles for a 1-0 lead.
SINGLES
- The Seahawks staked a 4-1 lead following default wins at No. 5 and 6 singles as well as dominant wins by first-year Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and sophomore Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Ganjbaksh dropped no games in her win while Levit won 6-3, 6-2.
- The Spartans closed the gap to 4-2 as junior Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./La Plata) fell 1-6, 4-6 at No. 3 singles to Bonnie Thomas.
- Sophomore Lily Spedden (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) closed out SMCM's first match win of the season by rallying for a hard-fought 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 triumph.
