LATHAM, N.Y. – First-year
Lily Ganjbaksh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was named the United East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday morning (Mar. 10). This is Ganjbaksh's second career league player of the week award.
Ganjbaksh dropped just four games over two matches as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team posted wins over York College of Pennsylvania (Mar. 1), 5-2, and Goucher College (Mar. 7), 4-3.
In the win over York, Ganjbaksh and her partner,
Sarah Levit, came up short in a 6-2 loss at No. 1 doubles to
Maddi Haggerty and
Bri Serruto. She then rebounded with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Serruto at No. 1 singles.
Ganjbaksh and Levit blanked Goucher's
Natalia Navarro and
Meline Siggen at No. 1 doubles before she picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over Navarro.
St. Mary's College (2-1) will return to action next week (Mar. 16-19) at the PTR Spring Tennis Fest down in Hilton Head, S.C.
