RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore
Jack Kuta (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) broke the school record in the 3000m run as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's outdoor track & field team kicked off the 2026 outdoor track & field season at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond (March 20).
Kuta clocked a 10:05.13 to finish 23rd in the 3000m. He surpassed the previous record of 10:29.78 set by
Bryce Webster '27 on March 16, 2024.
Other Highlights
- Senior Zack Kralec (Monkton, Md./Hereford) captured the pole vault with 4.75m.
- The foursome of senior Jaedon Aso (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills), junior Collin Fitzgerald (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), and seniors Mason Layne (Taneytown, Md./FSK) and Nicholas Haylock (Odenton, Md./Meade) ran a 43.93 to take seventh in the 4x100m relay.
- First-year Albert Morris placed ninth in the discus throw with 31.86m while senior Doel Nkalo (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) came in 14th in 27.35m.
- Fitzgerald, sophomore Henry Wilcox (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills), first-year Solomon David (Stephen Decatur), and sophomore Moses McRae (Philadelphia, Pa./Kents Hill [Maine]) came together to run a 3:32.69 in the 4x400m relay for 10th place.
- Haylock added a 12th-place finish in the 400m hurdles in 58.88.
- First-year Jared Mack-Inniss placed 20th in the long jump with 5.70m.
- Fisher took 24th in the 5000m run in 10:13.29 while first-year Jax Hansen (Lothian, Md./Southern) came in 26th in 12:52.92.
- McRae led the Seahawks in the 400m dash with a 36th-place finish in 53.16 while Layne placed 43rd in 54.41. Aso took 49th in 58.66 while Mack-Inniss went 51st in 1:00.74.
- Wilcox notched a 48th-place finish in the 800m run in 2:11.24.
