St. Mary's City, Md. - The St. Mary's College
of Maryland baseball team picked up a non-conference doubleheader
sweep of Lancaster Bible College Wednesday afternoon as the
Seahawks improved to 18-19-1 on the year. St. Mary's posted
an 8-0 victory in the first game and then notched a 10-0 win in the
nightcap.
The Seahawks return to action this Saturday when St. Mary's
hosts Frostburg State University in a non-conference doubleheader
with the first pitch set for noon. Prior to the start of the
first game, the Seahawks' nine seniors will be recognized for their
accomplishments on and off the field.

Freshman right-hander Mikel Iraola
(Silver Spring, Md./DeMatha) pitched his first collegiate complete
game as Iraola knocked down a season-best 13 strikeouts against one
walk in leading the Seahawks to a shutout victory. With his
fourth win of the season, Iraola tied the team lead in wins.
Iraola's cause was helped by the fact that St. Mary's scored at
least one run in all but one inning. Freshman outfielder
Jacen Killebrew (La Plata, Md./La Plata) was the
only Seahawk with a multiple hit game as Killebrew went 2-for-3
with two runs and an RBI. Killebrew also stole two bases to
raise his team-leading total to 24. Senior catcher
Mike Broccolino (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) drove
in two runs and plated one run himself.
The Jacques brothers (Norristown, Pa.) paced LBC (10-16)
offensively as both Steve and Dan
went 2-for-3. Junior Ben Markey (Dallastown,
Pa.) gave up eight runs (six earned) on eight hits as Markey (2-4)
threw five walks and only a pair of strikeouts.

Infielders Jon Gill (Owings Mills, Md.)
and Jeff Malcom (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) posted
2-for-3 efforts at the plate in pacing St. Mary's offensively in
the nightcap. Gill drove in three runs and crossed home plate
once, while Malcom did the reverse with three runs scored and one
RBI.
Freshman righty Greg Weidner
(Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings) pitched six complete innings
with four strikeouts, one walk and five hits allowed in his first
collegiate win.
Senior infielder TJ Horn (Mechanicsburg, Pa.)
was the only Charger to connect twice as Horn went 2-for-3 with his
eighth double of the season.
Freshman Tyrel Fuller (Wellsboro, Pa.) yielded
five walks in four innings, while giving up seven runs (four
earned) on six hits with no strikeouts.
