Seahawks Outscore Lancaster Bible, 18-0

St. Mary's City, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team picked up a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Lancaster Bible College Wednesday afternoon as the Seahawks improved to 18-19-1 on the year.  St. Mary's posted an 8-0 victory in the first game and then notched a 10-0 win in the nightcap.

The Seahawks return to action this Saturday when St. Mary's hosts Frostburg State University in a non-conference doubleheader with the first pitch set for noon.  Prior to the start of the first game, the Seahawks' nine seniors will be recognized for their accomplishments on and off the field.

Game One: SMC 8, LBC 0 (7 inn.)
Box Score
Freshman right-hander Mikel Iraola (Silver Spring, Md./DeMatha) pitched his first collegiate complete game as Iraola knocked down a season-best 13 strikeouts against one walk in leading the Seahawks to a shutout victory.  With his fourth win of the season, Iraola tied the team lead in wins.

Iraola's cause was helped by the fact that St. Mary's scored at least one run in all but one inning.  Freshman outfielder Jacen Killebrew (La Plata, Md./La Plata) was the only Seahawk with a multiple hit game as Killebrew went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.  Killebrew also stole two bases to raise his team-leading total to 24.  Senior catcher Mike Broccolino (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) drove in two runs and plated one run himself.

The Jacques brothers (Norristown, Pa.) paced LBC (10-16) offensively as both Steve and Dan went 2-for-3.  Junior Ben Markey (Dallastown, Pa.) gave up eight runs (six earned) on eight hits as Markey (2-4) threw five walks and only a pair of strikeouts.

Game Two: SMC 10, LBC 0 (6 inn.)
Box Score
Infielders Jon Gill (Owings Mills, Md.) and Jeff Malcom (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) posted 2-for-3 efforts at the plate in pacing St. Mary's offensively in the nightcap.  Gill drove in three runs and crossed home plate once, while Malcom did the reverse with three runs scored and one RBI.

Freshman righty Greg Weidner (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings) pitched six complete innings with four strikeouts, one walk and five hits allowed in his first collegiate win.

Senior infielder TJ Horn (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) was the only Charger to connect twice as Horn went 2-for-3 with his eighth double of the season.

Freshman Tyrel Fuller (Wellsboro, Pa.) yielded five walks in four innings, while giving up seven runs (four earned) on six hits with no strikeouts.
