Killebrew Tabbed Co-CAC Player-of-the-Week

York, Pa. - Jacen Killebrew (La Plata, Md./La Plata) became the first St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball player to be picked as a conference player-of-the-week as Killebrew was selected as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Baseball Co-Player-of-the-Week for the week ending April 27.

Killebrew shares the honor with Salisbury's sophomore first baseman Mike Celenza who drilled a pair of two-run homers to lift the fourth-ranked Sea Gulls to an 8-3 win over Christopher Newport.

Jacen Killebrew The 6-2 sophomore centerfielder hit .500 (7-for-14) with four runs scored and five RBI.  Killebrew had a pair of multiple RBI games for the Seahawks, who won three of five games last week to end the 2008 campaign at 19-21-1.

The transfer from Division II Catawba College started the week with a 2-for-3 effort in an 8-0 win over Lancaster Bible College on April 23.  Killebrew scored twice, drove in one and connected on his seventh double of the season.

In his only at-bat in a 3-0 loss to Frostburg State University on April 26, he picked up his eighth double of 2008.  Killebrew then went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in an 8-7 loss to Frostburg State.

He finished the week with a 2-for-5 effort with two RBI as the Seahawks tallied a 4-1 victory over Washington (Md.) College in their season finale on April 27.

Killebrew finished his rookie campaign at SMCM as St. Mary's top hitter with a .338 average with team-highs of 44 hits and 24 stolen bases.  He was second with 28 runs, eight doubles, while being third with 21 RBI and fourth with two triples.
