Abington, Pa. - Everyone was a
winner as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team
rebounded from yesterday's loss to Catholic University with a 9-0
shutout of host Penn State Abington Sunday afternoon.
The Seahawks improve to 3-1 on the season, while Penn State
Abington drops to 0-5.
Sophomore Kathleen Ramsey (Dunkirk,
Md./Northern) and freshman Marie Rau (Ellicott
City, Md./Howard) both blanked their opponents, 8-0, at the No. 4
and No. 6 singles flights, respectively.
The tandem of senior Michelle Compton (Havre de
Grace, Md./Tome) and freshman Chelsea Bradcovich
(Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) did not drop a game as well,
posting an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles over Katelyn
King and Michelle Czarny.
St. Mary's will return to action this coming weekend, October
3-4 as the Seahawks travel to Towson to compete in the Goucher
College Fall Open Tournament.
