Parker (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) set her third record of
the season and had a hand in all four goals as the St. Mary's
College of Maryland field hockey team posted a 4-0 shutout of Hood
College in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday
afternoon.
Parker, the reigning CAC Rookie of the Year,
established the single-season record for points at 35 (thus far)
this afternoon with six points on two goals and two assists,
surpassing her own mark of 31 from last season.
Junior Sam
Locke (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) started the
scoring for the Seahawks (9-2, 4-1 CAC) at 3:23 as
Parker, from the near post, sent in a pass to the
penalty stroke spot where Locke slammed it home
for the 1-0 lead.
Junior Susan
Smith (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) made it a
two-goal game with her fourth goal of the season at 26:42 as
Parker got around the defense before dishing it
off to Smith for the score.
Parker gave St. Mary's a 3-0 halftime advantage
as she weaved through the defense before finding the back of the
cage at 27:43.
Parker notched her team-leading 16th goal at
60:09 when sophomore forward Ali McIntosh
(Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) poked the ball through the legs of
senior goalie Anna Marie Hantman (Queenstown,
Md./Kent Island) and Parker was waiting just
behind Hantman to tip it in.
The St. Mary's defense allowed Hood (1-8, 0-5 CAC) only one shot
while the Seahawks fired off 19.
Senior goalie Lydia Garcia
(Bowie, Md./Seton) started and completed the first half for the
home team before making way for first-year Anastasia Wash
(Yorktown, Va./York) who started the second half and tallied one
save.
Hantman made nine saves in the loss while
first-year Nicole Killmer (Clinton Corners,
N.Y./Stissing Mountain) had one defensive save.
The Seahawks will be idle for the next 10 days before facing
current No. 15 Catholic University in non-conference action on
Tuesday, October 12 at 6:00 pm in Washington, D.C.
