Seeman Drops 20 in Seahawks' Second Straight Win

Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. - Despite not having played in two weeks because of the record snowfall in the Mid-Atlantic region, the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team finished with five players in double figures as the Seahawks swept the Capital Athletic Conference series with Hood College with a 78-55 victory Saturday afternoon.

Junior guard Megan Seeman (Frederick, Md./Linganore) paced St. Mary's (7-13, 6-6 CAC) in scoring as Seeman matched her career-high of 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting while equaling her season-best of five rebounds.  Freshman guard Pui Sham (Springfield, Va./W. Springfield) added 14 points and season-highs of six rebounds and six assists.

With today's victory, the Seahawks moved into fourth place in the CAC standings, holding a half-game lead on Salisbury University.

Senior guard Stephanie Saint-Aubin (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) contributed to the Seahawk win with 13 points, nine boards, and four steals while senior center Alex Wenger (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) recorded her first double-double of the season on 11 caroms and 10 points along with a career-best four assists.  Junior forward Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./Barrie) rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points.

Behind 14 first-half points from Seeman and 10 from Roberts, the Seahawks roared to a 41-19 halftime advantage as the team connected on 6-of-10 from downtown.  St. Mary's finished shooting 46.7% in the first half while holding the Blazers to 28.0% shooting.  Twenty of the 41 first-half points came off of 15 Hood turnovers.

Three Blazers (4-18, 1-14 CAC) reached double figures as freshman guard Dyanna Prater (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) paced the trio with 15 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, and five assists.  Senior forward Jen Willison (Hancock, Md./Hancock) was next with 13 points and eight boards while junior Kameran Evans (Waldorf, Md./CSM) added 10 off the bench.

In the final 20 minutes, the Seahawks just continued to add their 22-point halftime lead, boasting their largest lead of 34 (72-38) with 5:23 remaining in the game following a lay-up by freshman guard Taylor Petrisko (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake).  The home team shot 51.5% in the second half to finish the game with a 49.2- field goal percentage for the afternoon.

The Seahawks will look to maintain its hold on fourth place in the league standings when St. Mary's welcomes third-place Wesley College to the ARC Arena this coming Tuesday, February 16 at 6:00 pm.  The Seahawks hope to avenge their 72-66 loss at Wesley on January 9.
