Match Results

Frederick, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team topped Hood College, 6-2, Friday afternoon to secure the fourth seed in the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament while junior Kathleen Ramsey (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) became the program's all-time leader in singles wins.

Kathleen Ramsey Ramsey captured No. 3 singles with an 8-6 score over junior Casey Miller (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville Broadview Heights) for her 37th career singles victory, surpassing Sarah Pernick '07 mark of 36 wins.  Ramsey now owns a 37-15 career record.

As the fourth seed, the Seahawks (8-10, 4-3 CAC) will host fifth-seeded Wesley College on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00 pm at the Somerset Tennis Complex.  St. Mary's four conference wins matches a program record set by the 2008 squad when the Seahawks finished 4-1 in league action.

Hood stole the first point of the match as the duo of sophomore Emily Maerz (Myersville, Md./Middletown) and senior Kameran Evans (Waldorf, Md./CSM) posted an 8-0 shutout of sophomore Marie Rau (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and junior Sarah Minkoff (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) at No. 1 doubles.

The Seahawks responded by claiming the other two doubles matches and heading into singles action with a 2-1 advantage.

Maerz evened up the score with an 8-0 blanking of Rau at No. 1 singles before St. Mary's captured four straight singles matches for the win.
