Match Results

Fredericksburg, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference Tournament run ended for the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team Tuesday afternoon as the Seahawks endured a 9-0 setback at the hands of seven-time defending champions, No. 23 University of Mary Washington.

The fourth-seeded Seahawks (9-11) will wrap up their 2011 campaign on Thursday, April 21 as St. Mary's welcomes Goucher College to the Somerset Tennis Complex for non-conference action at 3:00 pm.

St. Mary's tandem of junior Jackie Brady (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and first-year Alexa Gaul (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) notched one game in an 8-1 loss to the regionally-ranked duo of seniors Courtney Goimarac (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) and Megan Lawlor (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) at No. 1 doubles.  Goimarac/Lawlor are ranked ninth in the Atlantic South region.

Brady then faced Lawlor at No. 2 singles with Lawlor, who is ranked 16th in the Atlantic South region, coming away with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.  Brady was the only Seahawk to win any games during singles action.
