St. Mary's City, Md. – Fifth-year head coach Derek Sabedra and his 2011 Seahawks set a school record for wins in a season as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team blanked Lancaster Bible College, 9-0, for their record-breaking 13th victory of the season Monday afternoon.

St. Mary's wraps up this year's campaign with a 13-9 record, surpassing the original mark of 12 set by the 1998 squad and then equaled by the 2010 team.

First-year Andrew Gear (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) put the finishing touches on a phenomenal rookie campaign as Gear picked up his record 19th singles win with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over senior Zak Kraehmer (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill) at No. 2 singles.  For the season, he was 14-1 at the second singles flight, 4-0 at No. 3, and 1-0 at No. 4 while his second loss of the season came at No. 1 singles.

Gear also had a successful doubles campaign, tying the season record for doubles wins with 12 set by juniors Robbie Bourdon (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) and Thomas Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard).  He finished the season with a 12-9 at No. 1 doubles with partners Hoesman and sophomore Arvin Wong (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman).

Today was also Senior Day for the Seahawks' three seniors: Nick Ibello (Cockeysville, Md./Calvert Hall), Jeff Levy (Rockville, Md./T.S. Wootton) and Stoytch Nechev (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney).

Ibello and Nechev finished undefeated for their one-year career as the duo recorded an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles over sophomore Jeremy Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) and junior Dan McAllister (Etters, Pa./Red Land).

First-year Jay Guzzone (Columbia, Md./Hammond) notched his 16th win of the season as Guzzone defeated first-year Sean Jesiolowski (Pequea, Pa./Penn Manor), 6-0, 6-1.  He finished his rookie season with a 16-6 record.

Sophomore Kyle Feeley (Baltimore, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) and first-year John Feighner (Laurel, Md./Atholton) finished the season with 10 wins with victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

Wong tallied double-digit wins in doubles action with a 10-7 record at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles with partners Feeley and Gear.
