Box Score

Frederick, Md. – Junior forward Lauriann Parker (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) was involved in four of the five goals today as the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team snapped their three-game losing streak with a 5-0 shutout of Hood College Friday afternoon.  Today's matchup marked the first Capital Athletic Conference game of the season as well.

With her two-goal, two-assist performance, Parker tied the team record for career goals with 35 and broke the St. Mary's mark for career points with 82.  She beat the old points record by one point while sharing the goals record with Marianne Wood '08.

St. Mary's (2-3, 1-0 CAC) started the scoring early as Parker notched an unassisted goal at 7:08.  Parker then picked up her first assist on junior defender Ali McIntosh's (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) fourth tally of the season for a 2-0 lead at 19:53.

First-year Paige Decker (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) increased the Seahawk lead to three at 30:52 as Decker completed a pass from Parker.  St. Mary's headed into halftime with a four-goal margin as Parker notched her second of the day just 10 seconds before intermission.  Senior midfielder Sam Locke (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) assisted on the fourth goal.

Sophomore midfielder Claire Kortyna (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine-Richland) scored her first career goal for the Seahawks' final tally of the game at 39:58.

St. Mary's dominated the contest from start to finish, taking 32 shots while holding Hood (1-2, 0-1 CAC) to just three.  The Seahawks also posted an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Goalkeepers Christy Bishop (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg), Ana Wash (Yorktown, Va./York) and Kelly Shuman (Columbia, Md./Atholton) combined to record the shutout as Bishop made one save in first half action.  McIntosh added her second defensive save of the season as well.

St. Mary's has a quick turnaround as the Seahawks travel to Virginia on Sunday, September 18 to take on No. 9 Lynchburg College (4-1) in non-conference action at 2:00 pm.
