Box Score Selinsgrove, Pa. – Despite firing off 13 shots, including nine on goal, the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to host Susquehanna University Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the Connie Harmon Classic.
Susquehanna (2-0) scored a goal in each half while senior goalkeeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) tallied nine saves to lead the Crusader defense in stifling the St. Mary's offense. The Crusaders also earned 10 penalty corners to the Seahawks' six.
First-year goalie Christy Bishop (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) made three stops in the loss.
St. Mary's (1-1) will be back in action on Wednesday, September 7 when the Seahawks travel to Chestertown, Md. to take on Washington College in non-conference action at 4:00 pm.
