Both junior forward Joanna Murray (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) and sophomore Raven Owens (Arnold, Md./Severn School) finished with 18 points to pace the Seahawks. Murray's 18 points were a season-best while she matched her season-high with seven rebounds. Junior guard Jasmine Jones (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) also put up double-digit numbers with 15 points while adding game-bests of four assists and three steals.
St. Mary's opened up with the first six points as Murray scored five and the home team never trailed in the contest. First-year forward Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) converted two free throws bring the Blazers within 21-20 with 7:23 remaining in the half.
An Owens' trey sparked a 15-5 run to end the half and give the Seahawks a 36-25 halftime advantage. Owens and Wiley shared halftime scoring honors with 13 points each while Wallace pulled down six boards in the first 20 minutes.
St. Mary's lead remained in double digits for the second half as the Seahawks fired at a .424 clip from the floor to finish the game with a 39.4-field goal percentage. The Seahawk defense stifled Hood's offense, forcing the Blazers to commit 32 turnovers and limiting the conference's third leading scorer, junior guard Dyanna Prater (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg), to a 4-of-13 effort for 10 points.
Wiley joined Prater in double digits as Wiley registered a double-double on a game-high 19 points and 10 caroms.
