St. Mary's Women's Tennis Blanks Notre Dame (Md.)

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team registered their second win of the season with a 9-0 blanking of Notre Dame of Maryland University in non-conference action Friday afternoon.

Sophomores Shannon Ramsey (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) and Emily Stumpfig (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles over senior Amanda Fansler (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) and sophomore Anna Schmedding (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch).

Ramsey notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Fansler at No. 1 singles while Stumpfig earned a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over first-year Celeste Holmes-Tate (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) at No. 3 singles for her team-leading third singles win of the season.

Sophomore Lauren Rost (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) and first-year Emily Rost (Germantown, Md.) joined forces to record an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Holmes-Tate and junior Megan Kemp (Easton, Md./Easton), maintaining their doubles record untarnished at 4-0.

L. Rost defeated Schmedding 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles while E. Rost garnered a 6-1, 6-0 victory over sophomore Morgan Wheaton (Cape May, N.J./Cape May County Technical) at No. 4 singles.

Senior Chelsea Bradcovich (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and first-year Anna Passaniti (White Hall, Md./Hereford) notched an 8-0 triumph at No. 3 doubles over Wheaton and first-year Nissa Dirige (Parkville, Md./Parkville).

Passaniti tallied her first career singles win at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kemp while first-year Kayla Baier (Ocean City, Md./Worcester Prep) won at No. 6 singles over Dirige, picking up a double-bagel win for her first win as a Seahawk.

St. Mary's will wrap up the Fall portion of its 2012-13 campaign tomorrow when the Seahawks travel to Penn State Harrisburg, a future Capital Athletic Conference member, for a 2:00 pm match.
