Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team overcame an early 4-1 deficit with a 7-0 run and then stood strong against a late fourth-period University of Mary Washington rally to post an 8-6 Capital Athletic Conference win Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated in conference action.

After St. Mary's (7-3, 4-0 CAC) established an 8-4 advantage with 5:17 remaining in the contest, the Mary Washington Eagles fired off back-to-back man-up goals as sophomore attacker John Bohlinger (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) had a goal and an assist to pull the Eagles within two at 1:39.  The rally was cut short as St. Mary's won the ensuing face-off and despite a pair of Seahawk turnovers, Mary Washington only took one more shot before time expired.

Senior attacker John Dehm (Trumbull, Conn./Middlesex School [Mass.]) and midfielders Taylor Cook (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) and Will Lerch (Lothian, Md./Calverton School) each scored twice to pace the Seahawk offense while junior attacker Patrick Mull (Fallston, Md./Fallston) added two assists.

Mary Washington (7-3, 2-2 CAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first 15 minutes as senior attacker Harry Snyder (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield) and Bohlinger each found the back of the net less than three minutes apart.

Sophomore attacker Luke Dick (Annapolis, Md./Spalding) tallied a goal and an assist as the Eagles notched two of the first three goals at the start of the second period for a 4-1 cushion at 9:59.  St. Mary's responded with two consecutive goals off a pair of Mull assists to go into halftime down only 4-3.

Bohlinger paced the Mary Washington offense with two goals and two assists while Dick contributed a goal and two assists.  Junior attacker Paul Tunick (Annandale, Va./Woodson) also had a multiple-goal day with two.

The Seahawk defense held Mary Washington scoreless for 36 minutes –from the 9:59-minute mark in the second quarter to the 3:53-minute mark in the fourth stanza.  During that time, St. Mary's picked up five more unanswered goals for a four-goal cushion.  Dehm and Lerch each scored twice in the 7-0 Seahawk run.

Junior Albert Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John's) dominated face-off X for St. Mary's with a 14-of-18 effort and game-high seven ground balls while adding an assist.  Sophomore defenseman Tripp Trainor (Severn, Md./Gilman School paced the Seahawk defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
