St. Mary's City, Md. – Senior captain Thomas Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) picked up the lone point as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Salisbury University in the semifinals of the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship Tournament Tuesday afternoon.

St. Mary's (17-4) entered today's match as the No. 2 seed for the first time in program history while Salisbury (11-11) is the third seed in this year's tournament.  Salisbury now advances to Friday's CAC championship match at top-seeded University of Mary Washington, who was a 9-0 winner over fourth-seeded York College of Pennsylvania in today's other semifinal match.

Hoesman posted a straight set victory of 6-3, 6-3 over senior Curtis Quandt (Kent Island, Md./Kent Island) at No. 3 singles.  Hoesman ends his senior campaign with a 19-5 record, including a 17-2 mark at the third singles flight.  He finishes his four-year Seahawk career with 38 singles wins and 38 doubles wins.

Sophomore John Feighner (Laurel, Md./Atholton) succumbed to a heartbreaking three-set loss at No. 5 singles as first-year Nick Mancuso (Victor, N.Y./Victor) came back after a one-set setback.  Mancuso won the match 5-7, 6-4, 10-6.

The Seahawks completed the 2011-12 season with two players notching 20-win seasons in singles action as sophomore Andrew Gear (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) finished at 21-4 and fellow classmate J. Guzzone follows with a 20-4 record.

The 2011-12 season finale will be on Saturday, April 28 as the Seahawks travel to Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania to take on Bryn Athyn College at 1:30 pm.
