Chestertown, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team fell 6-3 at Washington College in the Seahawks' regular-season finale Tuesday afternoon.

With the 2012-13 regular season complete, the Seahawks (13-10) will now concentrate on the 2013 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. St. Mary's clinched the third seed with a 3-2 CAC record and was set to host No. 6 seed Wesley College in first round action this Saturday, April 20. However, Wesley has withdrawn from the CAC tournament and therefore, St. Mary's will now take on second-seeded Salisbury University in the semifinals on Tuesday, April 23 at 3:30 pm.

Washington (5-8) posted a 2-0 lead before senior Chelsea Bradcovich (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and first-year Anna Passaniti (White Hall, Md./Hereford) picked up an 8-6 win over senior Kat Cohen (Springfield, Mass.) and junior Amy Stevens (Street, Md.) at No. 3 doubles for the Seahawks' first point of the match. The St. Mary's duo is now 15-4 on the season.

Senior captain Marie Rau (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) tied up the match at 2-2 as Rau earned the default win at No. 6 singles. The Shorewomen then went up 5-2 before first-year Emily Rost (Germantown, Md.) notched St. Mary's third point with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Stevens at No. 5 singles.

Sophomore Shannon Ramsey (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) started off with a 7-5 win in the first set against first-year April Weaver (Perrysburg, Ohio). Weaver then responded with a 6-4 victory in the second and a 10-1 triumph in the third-set tiebreaker, sealing the deal for Washington.
