Fredericksburg, Va. – The fourth-seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team saw their season come to an end Wednesday evening, falling 9-0 to top-seeded University of Mary Washington in the 2014 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship Tournament Semifinals.
The Seahawks wrapped up the 2013-14 campaign with a 7-9 (3-3 CAC) overall record, advancing to their seventh consecutive appearance in the CAC semifinals.
Mary Washington (15-7), who is ranked 21st in Division III and sixth in the Atlantic South region, swept all three doubles matches without dropping a single game.
St. Mary's took five games from the Eagles during the six singles matches as junior Shannon Ramsey (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) won two against senior Lindsay Raulston (Franklin, Va.), who ranks 13th in the region, and junior Emily Stumpfig (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) claimed one from sophomore Shelby Harris (Newport News, Va.), who is regionally-ranked 16th.
