Box Score

Arlington, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team's hopes of upsetting No. 3 seed Marymount (Va.) University in the first round of the 2015 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament fell short Tuesday night. The sixth-seeded Seahawks dropped a 66-48 decision at Marymount.

The loss ends St. Mary's 2014-15 campaign with a 7-18 (7-11 CAC) record. Marymount (18-8) now travels to Fredericksburg, Virginia to face No. 2 seed University of Mary Washington in the semifinals Thursday night.

Sophomore center Nina Haller (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was the only player for St. Mary's to score in double digits as Haller finished with 11 points and six rebounds. First-year guard Kerri Kline (Hagerstown, Md./Saint James School) added eight points, five boards, and four assists.

The Seahawks came out strong with a 5-0 start for their biggest lead of the contest at 18:33. Haller's layup tied up the game for the second time (7-7) at 15:11 while a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Haley Riebling (Ellicott City, Md./Seton Keough) gave St. Mary's its final lead of the game (12-11) around the 13-minute mark.

After a nearly three-minute long scoring drought by both sides, Marymount claimed its first double-digit lead of the game at 6:53 with a 16-4 run capped by first-year guard Leah Hurst (Crofton, Md./St. Mary's Annapolis). The Saints headed into the locker room with a 31-22 halftime advantage.

Hurst and junior guard Kievanna Lacey (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville) led all scorers with eight points each while Riebling paced the Seahawks with five.

The Saints opened up the second half with an 11-2 run to stretch their lead to 18 in the first four minutes. Marymount never let up and owned a double-figure margin for the rest of the contest.

As a team, St. Mary's shot 33.3% for the game, including a game-best 39.1% in the second half, and connected on a game-best five three-pointers. Marymount dominated the paint with a 34-14 scoring margin en route to a shooting percentage of 51.9 for the game.

Lacey led a trio of Saint scorers in double digits with a game-best 20 points while adding a game-high nine assists. Hurst finished with 13 while junior Miranda Krott (Temple, Pa./Oley Valley) chipped in 10 points and a game-best nine rebounds.
