Ashland, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team began the spring portion of their 2015-16 season Saturday afternoon at Randolph-Macon College. Randolph-Macon (1-0) opened up its dual-match season with a 7-2 win over the Seahawks (1-2).

Junior Marissa Romanek (Sunderland, Md./Huntingtown) and senior captain Emily Rost (Gaithersburg, Md./Northwest) nabbed St. Mary's first point of the match at No. 2 doubles, posting an 8-5 win over junior Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./Varina) and first-year Gaby Tersingi (Yorktown, Va./York).

Sophomore Melissa Barall (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) then stepped up in singles action for the Seahawks' second and final point of the match. Barall tallied a straight set (6-2, 6-4) victory over junior Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./K-12 International Academy) at No. 1 singles.

St. Mary's will look to get back in the win column tomorrow (Sunday, February 28) when the Seahawks welcome Washington College to the Somerset Tennis Complex for a non-conference match at 1:00 p.m.
