Box Score Frostburg, Md. – Senior captain Tanner Brooks (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) scored the team's last seven points to propel the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team to a 65-64 road win Saturday afternoon over Frostburg State University.
Frostburg State (6-15, 4-10 CAC) was 1:18 away from picking up its first-ever season sweep of the Seahawks since joining the conference in 2010-11. The Bobcats held a 62-58 advantage after senior James Peters (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) finished off the old-fashioned three-point play.

Brooks took over from there, draining a three with 34 seconds remaining and then hit a pair of free throws with five ticks on the clock. Michael launched a three as time expired but the shot bounced back hard off the backboard.
Brooks finished the night with a game-high 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including four triples, and went 6-for-7 at the charity stripe. Sophomore captain Delaszo Smith (Baltimore, Md./Annapolis) was the other Seahawk to break double-digits with 15 as Smith connected on two three-pointers and notched four steals, four assists, and four rebounds.
St. Mary's (10-11, 6-8 CAC) is now in a two-way tie for sixth with Marymount (Va.) University (9-12, 6-8 CAC) in the Capital Athletic Conference standings following today's victory. The Seahawks will remain on the road for their next game, traveling to York College of Pennsylvania (9-12, 5-9 CAC) on Wednesday, February 10th. Tip-off is at 8:00 p.m.
The Seahawks established an early lead and held a 16-15 advantage at 9:29 behind a pair of free throws from senior guard Garrett Snoops (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding). Frostburg State gained the upper hand from there and closed out the half by outscoring St. Mary's, 21-15, for a 37-30 halftime advantage.
