Washington, D.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team traveled to Washington, D.C. Tuesday afternoon, falling 25-7 to The Catholic University of America Cardinals in non-conference play.

Before the game, Catholic head coach Ross Natoli and the Cardinals recognized 22nd-year Seahawk head coach Lew Jenkins on his farewell tour with a baseball signed by the Catholic players and a framed photo of the two longtime colleagues plus flowers for his wife, Marian.

St. Mary's will conclude the 2016 season on Sunday, May 1 when the Seahawks travel back to the District of Columbia to take on Gallaudet University in non-conference play at 1:00 p.m. This will mark the last game of Jenkins' storied career.

The Seahawks (9-23) would display seven runs on 13 hits. Senior shortstop Hunter Mohler (La Plata, Md./Bishop McNamara) would tally two runs, three hits, and three RBI while senior catcher Connor Goodie (Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun) also stepped up for the Seahawks with a showing of two hits and one RBI.

The Seahawks would get on the board in the second inning with two runs by junior second baseman Zach Rowe (Davidsonville, Md./Calvert Hall) and first-year Lucas Kraft (Boyds, Md./Clarksburg) after a strong single down the middle by Mohler. The Seahawks would exit the top of the fourth with a 4-3 lead over the Cardinals.

The Cardinals (17-18) would be ready to attack, responding with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth and a 12-run rally in the fifth inning.

Seahawks junior LHP Nick Raimondo (Davidsonville, Md./South River) would receive the loss after working 3.1 innings, evening up his season record at 4-4, while sophomore RHP Matt Henigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) threw the final 3.0 innings of the game out of the bullpen with two strikeouts.
