St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team (7-7, 4-2 CAC) took to the courts Wednesday evening against the always tough opponent, the No.18 University of Mary Washington Eagles (15-3, 6-0 CAC).

Entering doubles play, the Eagles, who are sixth in the Atlantic South region, got out to a fast start. UMW took all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead. The Seahawks put up the biggest fight at No. 3 doubles as sophomores Chelsea English (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and Raziela Manangan (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) took on sophomore Hannah Jabusch (Cary, N.C./Cary) and senior Ashley Price (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run), dropping a highly contested 8-5 decision.

As the day progressed into singles play, it was again all Eagles as they won the next six matches. The Seahawks' sophomore Melissa Barall (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) played a tough match at No. 1 singles against sophomore Caroline Mosberg (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run), falling 6-2, 6-2.

The Seahawks will take to the courts next in an away match against another CAC opponent, regionally-ranked Salisbury University, on Saturday, April 9.
