• The Short Story: The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team picked up their fourth straight loss Wednesday night on the road at the hands of No. 7 University of Mary Washington. Mary Washington posted a 77-49 win in the Capital Athletic Conference tilt to sweep the season series.

How It Happened

• Junior captain Olivia Nowlin (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) gave the Seahawks its only lead of the game as Nowlin connected on a game-opening three-pointer for a 3-0 lead at 9:14. Mary Washington went on to claim the first quarter, 16-6, with a 16-3 run to close out the period.
• Although St. Mary's shot 50-percent in the second quarter, the Eagles made 5-of-6 three-pointers to outscore the Seahawks, 25-16, and notch a 41-22 halftime advantage.
• Senior center Nina Haller (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) paced St. Mary's at intermission with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
• The Seahawks struggled to find their offense in the second half, shooting below 20-percent from the floor while Mary Washington grew its lead to as many as 31 in extending its win streak to six straight.

What It Means

• The loss officially knocks St. Mary's out of CAC playoff contention.

Inside the Box Score

• Haller was held to six points over the final 20 minutes as she finished the night with a game-best 20 points while adding nine rebounds and four blocks.
• As a team, the Seahawks took care of the ball and only committed a season-best 12 turnovers.

• St. Mary's will be back at home this Saturday, February 11 as the Seahawks welcome Frostburg State University (10-12, 8-7 CAC) to the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena for Senior Day. Tip-off is at 2:00 p.m. Prior to tip-off, Haller and fellow senior Claire Kostelnik (Los Angeles, Calif./Flintridge Sacred Heart) will be honored for their dedication to the program. In their first meeting of the season, Frostburg State held on for a 61-54 win in Frostburg on January 4.
