ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team (7-10, 1-5 CAC) snapped their recent losing skid with a dominant 92-62 victory over the visiting Southern Virginia University Knights (4-13, 0-6 CAC).

How it Happened

• The Knights jumped on the Seahawks early, pulling out to a 12-2 lead at the 16:41 mark of the first half. Southern Virginia continued to build on their lead and held a 22-11 advantage with 12:41 remaining in the half.

• St. Mary's responded with an 11 point run to even the score at 22-22. Naheed John started the run with a strong two handed dunk through traffic. John drew the foul after the made dunk and tacked on a free throw. From there, three-pointers from Alex Behzadi and Matt Ayoub capped the run.

• The Seahawks and Knights continued to exchange scores and played to a competitive 33-25 game, in favor of St. Mary's, with 5:03 left in the half. Next, the Seahawks began to separate themselves from the Knights with a 10 point run. John, Behzadi, Justin Milstead, and Reggie Rouse tallied scores during the scoring streak. St. Mary's held a 43-27 lead over Southern Virginia heading into halftime.

• The second half of play was owned by the Seahawks as they outscored the Knights 49-35. St. Mary's shot 50 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from beyond the three-point arch in the half.

Inside the Box Score

• Ayoub led the Seahawks coming off the bench with 22 points off of five-of-10 shooting from three-point range.

• Rodney Christian recorded a season-best 14 points and collected five rebounds.

• Behzadi knocked down a season-best 11 points. Seth Jones made the most of his limited playing time with a made three-pointer for his first points of the season.

• St. Mary's played excellent team basketball this afternoon, dishing out 26 assists on 34 of their made shots.

• Sam Armstrong led the Knights with 12 points and four rebounds.
