Huntingdon Valley, PA -- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Cross Country team traveled to Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania for the United East Conference Championships. The Seahawks ran a 6k race and successfully defended their conference championship title, placing first overall with 31 points. The Seahawks had six runners finish in the top 15 of the race in what was an impressive outing for the group.Â
Top PerformersÂ
The top five Seahawk performers today were Madeleine Blaisdell, Lauren Sapp, Brittney Douglas, Betsy Robey and Ariana Lecouras.
Madeleine Blaisdell and Lauren Sapp finished one-two across the field to give the Seahawks a huge leg up in their championship pursuit. Blaisdell crossed the finish line with a time of 26:08 while Sapp completed the course in 26:14. Third to finish for the Seahawks was Brittney Douglas. Douglas finished the course 27:48 giving her ninth place. Immediately following Douglas was Betsy Robey. Robey gave the Seahawks their fourth top 10 finisher and ran a time of 28:23. Rounding out the Seahawks top five was Ariana Lecouras. Lecouras earned 12th place and crossed the finish line 29:16. Â
There were 38 runners in the field for the women's race. Â
