NEWVILLE, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team concluded their 2025 season at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship Saturday afternoon (Nov. 15). Dickinson College hosted the regional championships at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
St. Mary's College finished 21st in the 28-team field with 619 points as four of its five scorers - senior
Kate Wachter (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery Blair), first-years
Elle Wilson (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and
Charlotte Crabtree (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), and junior
Ellie Geiger (California, Md./Leonardtown) – were competing in their first NCAA Regional Championship.
How It Happened
- Sophomore Ella Mitchell (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr) improved by 11 spots at this year's regionals as Mitchell finished the 6K course in 23:59.57 to place 58th out of 210 runners. Last season, she placed 69th.
- Wachter was the second to score for the Seahawks as she came in 128th place in 25:44.63.
- The third Seahawk to finish was Wilson, who took 143rd in 26:30.50.
- Crabtree posted a personal record of 27:44.40 as she finished 160th.
- Geiger rounded out the top-five scorers as she took 176th in 28:39.23.
Inside the Race
- No. 4 Johns Hopkins University captured its 17th straight regional championship title with 42 points.
- Chloe Benson of No. 7 Carnegie Mellon University claimed the individual regional crown as Benson completed the course in 21:24.42.
