GETTYSBURG, Pa. – All six runners of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team competing at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational hosted by Gettysburg College Saturday morning (Oct. 18) posted season-best and/or personal-record times. St. Mary's College finished 19th in the 33-team field with 574 points.
Gwen Parks of the Georgetown Running Club (GRC) was the first to cross the finish line as Parks completed the 6K course in 21:23.10 while GRC also took home the team trophy with 45 points after three runs in the Top 5.
How It Happened
- For the fourth time this season, sophomore Ella Mitchell (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr) was the first Seahawk to cross the finish line as Mitchell placed 52nd out of 300 runners. She notched a season-best time of 23:35.90.
- Senior Kate Wachter (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery Blair) was the second to score for SMCM as Wachter came in 105th with a personal record of 24:57.90.
- The third Seahawk to finish was first-year Elle Wilson (Westminster, Md./Westminster) who took 149th with a personal record of 25:49.20.
- Junior Ellie Geiger (California, Md./Leonardtown) picked up points for St. Mary's College for the first time this season as Geiger clocked a personal record of 27:32.00 for 205th place.
- First-year Molly Hieatzman (Sykesville, Md./Century) rounded out the five Seahawk scorers with a 237th-place finish with a personal record of 29:02.5.
- Sophomore Jessica Satz (Silver Spring, Md./JFK) also clocked a personal record time with 36:41.10.
