Six Seahawks Named to All-United East Volt Division Men’s Soccer Teams

LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference office released the 2023 All-United East Conference Volt Division Men’s Soccer Teams Wednesday afternoon and the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s soccer team landed half a dozen on the all-conference teams.

Fifth-year captain Zack Glime (Annapolis, Md./Key) and junior Elliot Hodges (Rockville, Md./Avalon) earned spots on the All-United East First Team.

Seniors Garrett Bridgwater (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) and Jason Caro (Lanham, Md./Good Counsel), junior Alex Ochman (Rockville, Md./T.S. Wootton), and sophomore Jack Nelson (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) all garnered second-team honors.

Bridgwater, Caro, and Ochman are repeat all-stars.

Glime is picking up his first career all-conference honor. The 5-11 forward leads the team with 11 goals and 24 points, tying him for third in the league in goals. He recorded three multiple-goal games, including scoring a brace in a 2-2 draw at Rosemont College during the conference championship game (Nov. 4).

Glime was named the MVP of the United East Tournament after scoring in each of the four games during playoffs, including netting the game-winner in the team’s 2-0 win at Penn State Harrisburg (Nov. 1) to claim the Volt Division championship title. He was named the United East Volt Division Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 4.

Hodges is also making his first appearance on the All-United East First Team. The 5-9 forward came on strong for the Seahawks this season, putting up team second-bests of nine goals and 20 points. With two game-winning goals, he is tied for the team lead with Glime and Nelson. Hodges registered a pair of multiple-goal matches.

Bridgwater repeats as an All-United East Second Team selection. The 5-11 defender, along with Nelson, was part of five shutout wins and helped the team post a 1.32 team goals against average. He added two more assists to his career tally this season.

Jason Caro

Another repeat on the All-United East Second Team, Caro was one of St. Mary’s key playmakers this season, ranking second on the squad with five assists. The 5-9 forward also contributed three goals. He notched two assists in the Seahawks’ 4-1 win over Cabrini University (Sept. 10).

Ochman tallies his second all-conference honor after garnering All-United East First honors in 2022. The 5-8 forward is currently tied for fourth in the league with a team-best six assists. He has also added three goals, including the game-winning goal in the 5-1 win over Penn College (Oct. 28) in the first round of the United East Tournament.

Nelson gains his first career all-conference honor thanks to his strong defensive presence. He also proved to be an offensive asset as he tallied four goals, including two game-winners, and one assist thus far this season.

2023 UEC Men's Soccer Champions

The historic run for St. Mary’s (11-6-4) continues this weekend with first round action in the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament. The Seahawks will face John Carroll University on Saturday (Nov. 11) at 1:30 p.m. on the campus of University of Mary Washington down in Fredericksburg, Va. The team is fresh off capturing both the Volt Division championship title as well as the overall United East Conference championship crown while earning the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.
