KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior
Jack Nelson (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) and sophomores
Zach Blaum (Richmond, Va./Atlee) and
Nick Haney (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) represented the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team on the 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-Region IV teams.
Nelson landed on the First Team while Blaum and Haney both earned spots on the Third Team.
This is Nelson's second all-region selection while Blaum and Haney are both first-time honorees. Eighteen Seahawks have combined for 33 All-Region awards throughout the history of the men's soccer program. This marks the 10th consecutive season (no All-Region awards were given in 2020) that St. Mary's College players have received all-region recognition.
Nelson becomes just the second defender in program history to garner First Team All-Region as
Matt Barlow '23 was a First Team selection as a defender in 2022.
Nelson's all-region award comes on the heels of being named the United East Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row (Nov. 12). Additionally, the 5-9 defender wrapped up his career as a three-time All-United East awardee. He notched First Team awards in 2024 and 2025 plus Second Team honors in 2023.
Nelson finished tied for sixth in the conference with two game-winning goals while tying for 13th with 13 points and three assists. He also tied for 14th with five goals while helping the defensive unit record a league fourth-best seven shutouts.
Blaum is gaining his first All-Region award after collecting his second consecutive First Team All-United East honor (Nov. 13). The 2024 United East Rookie of the Year, he finished tied for fifth in the conference with 43 shots while tying for sixth with two game-winning goals and 21 shots on goal. The 6-2 midfielder also tied for 14th with five goals to finish his sophomore campaign with 12 points.
Haney put forth a career-best campaign this season, more than tripling his points total from his rookie season. The 5-11 forward led the United East with five game-winning goals, which is good for 18th in Division III, while ranking second with 49 shots. He was also third with 25 points while being fourth with 10 goals and 23 shots on goal. A two-time United East Offensive Player of the Week, Haney tied for fifth as well with five assists.
St. Mary's College (13-6-1, 8-0-0 UEC) closed out the 2025 campaign by claiming the United East regular-season championship title for the second straight season.
