St. Mary’s College Women’s Swimming Sits Fifth at Yellow Jacket Invitational

HAMPTON, Va. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming opened action Friday (Nov. 22) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College at the Hampton, Virginia Aquaplex. St. Mary's College used four top-10 finishes to tally 126 points and land fifth in the eight-team field.
 
Sophomore Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) posted the Seahawks best finish of the night as Miller claimed a second-place finish in the 200-individual medley in 2:08.79.
 
Sophomore Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) picked up a fifth-place finish in the 50-freestyle in 24.56 while first-year Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) took 16th in 25.37.
 
The foursome of Young, junior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), Willey, and Miller earned a fifth-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:38.41.
 
In the 400-medley relay, the quartet of Young, Judge, Miller, and Willey finished seventh in 4:06.26.
 
First-years Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and Isa Bianco (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville), junior Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), and first-year Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) notched a 12th-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:49.19.
 
Another 12th-place finish was registered in the 400-medley relay in 4:27.07 behind the efforts of Goulet, first-year Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan), sophomore Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run), and Cartwright.
 
Judge added a 22nd-place finish in the 500-freestyle in 5:26.35 followed by Goulet in 24th in 5:37.13.
