HAMPTON, Va. – Sophomore
Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) captured the 100-butterfly as St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming continued competition Saturday (Nov. 23) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College at the Hampton, Virginia Aquaplex. St. Mary's College claimed six Top 15 finishes to notch 314 points and hold on to fifth in the eight-team field.
Miller won the 100-butterfly in 56.78 while first-year
Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan) finished 24th in 1:05.72.
The foursome of first-year
Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills), junior captain
Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), first-year
Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), and Miller tallied a seventh-place finish in the 800-freestyle relay in 8:11.40.
Sophomore
Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical), Malzahn, sophomore
Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run), and Goulet picked up a 10th-place finish in the 200-medley relay in 1:57.09.
Young collected an 11th-place finish in the 100-backstroke in 1:01.39 while Soldon came in 24th in 1:07.00.
Judge led the Seahawks in the 400-individual medley, putting up a 12th-place finish in 4:49.61.
In the 200-medley relay, the quartet of senior captain
Emelina Grimm (Rockville, Md./Magruder), first-year
Abigail Chappell (Waynesboro, Pa./St. Maria Goretti Catholic), junior
Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), and first-year
Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) finished 15th in 2:12.71.
Three Seahawks placed in the 200-freestyle with Willey leading the way with a 16th-place finish in 2:00.80. Goulet took 21st in 2:04.73 followed by Cartwright in 24th in 2:10.09.
Malzahn added a 22nd-place finish in the 100-breaststroke in 1:16.03.
