GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior
Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) concluded his second trip to the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships Saturday morning (Mar. 23) with competition in the 100 freestyle.
Schwenk entered the morning preliminaries of the 100-freestyle seeded 11th with his NCAA B standard and school record of 44.26 from February 18. He finished sixth in his heat and 18th overall in the 44-person field with a time of 44.69. The 6-2 captain missed the cut for a third evening final appearance by 12-hundredths of a second.
His second appearance in the NCAA Championships ended with two First Team All-America awards as Schwenk notched a pair of Top 8 finishes. He also registered three school records in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke (breaking it twice on the same day).
Schwenk is now a four-time All-American after garnering a pair of Second Team All-America honors last season in the 50 freestyle (14th-place finish) and the 100 freestyle (15th-place finish).
