SMCM Men’s Swimming Takes Fourth at Yellow Jacket Invitational

HAMPTON, Va. – St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming finished fourth at the eight-team Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College at the Hampton Aquaplex Nov. 21-23. St. Mary's College notched 423.5 points as the Seahawks collected 10 top-10 finishes, edging Randolph-Macon by 1.5 points for fourth place.
 
Salisbury University took home the team title with 1502 points while Washington & Lee University finished second with 817 points. The Catholic University of America rounded out the Top 3 with 710.5 points.
 
How It Happened
Sessions I and II (Friday, Nov. 21)
  • The foursome of junior Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist), first-year Brendan Mannion (West Chester, Pa./Unionville), junior Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton), and senior captain Will Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic) placed sixth in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:27.84.
  • Mannion picked up a sixth-place finish in the 200-individual medley in 1:56.01 while junior Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) came in 15th in 1:59.90.
  • Kendrick, Madigan, Davis, and sophomore Harrison Greenwald (Eldersburg, Md./Century) came together for an eight-place finish in the 400-medley relay in 3:35.11.
  • Greenwald added an 11th-place finish in the 500-freestyle in 4:43.74 while first-year Seth Geasey (Myersville, Md./Middletown) placed 19th in 4:49.88.
  • Kendrick tied for 11th in the 50-freestyle in 21.55 while Davis took 17th in 21.87.
 
Sessions III and IV (Saturday, Nov. 22)
  • Greenwald earned another sixth-place finish in the 400-individual medley in 4:11.62 while junior Jake Williams (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) came in 15th in 5:41.40.
  • Greenwald, Geasey, Madigan, and Mannion joined together for a sixth-place finish in the 800-freestyle relay in 7:08.79.
  • The quartet of Kendrick, Madigan, Smith, and Davis went seventh in the 200-medley relay in 1:36.52.
  • Madigan collected an eighth-place in the 100-breaststroke in 58.16 while Mannion finished 12th in 59.76.
  • In the 100-butterfly, Davis came in 13th in 53.94 while Smith was 14th in 54.53.
  • Kendrick notched a 13th-place finish in the 100-backstroke in 55.16 while first-year Harry Brooks (Centreville, Va./Westfield) finished 17th in 55.83.
  • Geasey led the Seahawks in the 200-freestyle with a 15th-place finish in 1:46.68.
 
Sessions V and VI (Sunday, Nov. 23)
  • The highest finish of the weekend for the SMCM men came from Greenwald in the 1650-freestyle as he placed fourth in 16:29.89. Geasey tallied a 15th-place finish in 17:24.88.
  • Madigan came in fifth in the 200-breaststroke in 2:06.26 while junior Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) picked up a 13th-place finish in 2:08.33.
  • Greenwald, Davis, Mannion, and Kendrick combined for a fifth-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay in 3:11.54.
  • Mannion posted a ninth-place finish in the 100-freestyle in 47.37 while Kendrick took 17th in 47.96.
  • In the 200-backstroke, Brooks finished 13th in 2:02.38 while first-year JB Bonner (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) notched a 15th-place finish in 2:03.14.
  • Sophomore Stephen Lepine (Rockville, Md./GWU Online) led SMCM in the 200-butterfly with a 15th-place finish in 2:08.33.
