ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Junior
Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) racked up his second school record of the weekend Sunday (Feb. 15) as St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming finished as the runners-up at the Atlantic East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships for the fourth year in a row with a program-best 831 points since joining the conference in 2020-21.
St. Mary's College hosted the 2026 Atlantic East Swimming & Diving Championships at the Aquatics Center in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center.
Marymount (Va.) University was crowned the Atlantic East men's swimming champion for the fourth consecutive season with 1014 points. Marywood University finished third with 315 points followed by Immaculata University in fourth with 219 points and Gallaudet University in fifth with 41 points.
200 Breaststroke
Madigan captured the 200-breaststroke for the second year in a row as he touched the wall in 2:05.10. He set the conference, meet, and school record in the morning preliminaries as he posted a 2:04.29, breaking his own previous mark of 2:05.60 set at last year's conference championships.
Junior
Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) finished fourth in 2:15.27 while first-year
Kellen Pumphrey (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) came in fifth in 2:22.05. Junior
Nick Suwito (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) also reached the podium with an eighth-place finish in 2:41.14.
1650 Freestyle
Sophomore
Harrison Greenwald (Eldersburg, Md./Century) picked up a second-place finish in the 1650-freestyle in 16:43.27 while fellow classmate
Stephen Lepine (Rockville, Md./GWU Online) took fourth in 17:36.78. First-year
Alex Myers (La Plata, Md./La Plata) earned a fifth-place finish in 18:37.37 while Suwito added another eighth-place finish in 20:42.04.
400 Freestyle Relay
The foursome of Greenwald, first-years
Seth Geasey (Myersville, Md./Middletown) and
Brendan Mannion (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) and senior captain
Will Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic) went second in the 400-freestyle relay in 3:09.49.
100 Freestyle
Mannion led the Seahawks in the 100-freestyle with a fourth-place finish in 47.45 while Kendrick garnered a fifth-place finish in 47.57. Junior
CB Jurado (Odenton, Md./Arundel) out touched fellow classmate
Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) by 0.01 seconds, placing sixth in 49.53. Davis followed in seventh in 49.54.
Senior captain
Tony Lumezi (Towson, Md./Towson) won the consolation final in 51.56 for ninth overall.
200 Butterfly
Geasey was the first Seahawk to touch the wall in the 200-butterfly as he finished fourth in 2:02.38 while Lepine placed fifth in 2:15.83.
200 Backstroke
In the first event of the day, first-year
Harry Brooks (Centreville, Md./Westfield) earned a fifth-place finish in 1:59.52 while first-year
JB Bonner (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) came in sixth in 2:01.14.
Junior
Jake Williams (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) placed third in the consolation final in 2:34.11 for 11th overall.
Inside the Meet
On the last day of the championship meet, nine of the 16 Seahawks who competed either in the preliminaries and/or the finals went lifetime bests. Additionally, 14 SMCM swimmers reached the podium 17 times and racked up one gold and two silver medals.
